Gabriel Ebrahimi

2022 Junior Lifeguard Cadet Intern

Hi! My name is Gabriel Ebrahimi. I was born in the Philippines and moved to Long Beach where I found my passion for the water. From an early age I was brought to the Belmont Plaza Pool where I took my first few kicks, propelling me to where I am today. I'm a junior at Sato Academy of Mathematics and Science which has become one of the greatest steps of adulthood. Being exposed to many opportunities at 16 years old has been an eye opener to what lies ahead. One of the greatest chapters of my life include the 3 years I spent as a Junior Lifeguard. This program has opened new opportunities and given me life skills for the future.

Peter Dodge

2022 Junior Lifeguard Cadet Intern

Hi, my name is Peter Dodge

I was born and raised in Long Beach. I am currently a senior at Long Beach Poly High School where I run cross country and track. The ocean and lifeguard department have always been a big part of my life. As far back as I can remember my parents have encouraged going to the beach as well as water sports, today I am an avid surfer myself. My dad, who is a lifeguard for Long Beach, enrolled me in the Junior lifeguard program when I was 10 and I haven't looked back.

Long Beach Lifeguard

Hi my name is Gabby Gillott. I was born and raised in Long Beach and am currently a junior at Wilson High School. I am a part of the swim and water polo teams and have been swimming since I was 7 years old. I grew up constantly being around the ocean, whether it was playing in the waves or visiting my dad during his shifts as a Long Beach Lifeguard. When I was 9 years old I was enrolled in the program, and I've been doing it almost every summer since. I'm very grateful to have been part of this program for so long and am looking forward to trying out for the lifeguard academy in March.

Hello, my name is Wiley Haga. I’m a junior at Long Beach Wilson High School where I am a part of the swim and water polo teams. I have been swimming since I was two years old and enjoy surfing, reading, and scuba diving. From an early age, I have enjoyed spending time on the beach and in the pool, spending most of my days in the water. Nico Song

2022 Junior Lifeguard Cadet Intern

Hello, my name is Nico Song and I am a junior at Long Beach Poly High School, where I have been a member of the Poly Music program, swim team, and water polo team since my freshman year. Despite having been born and raised in Long Beach, I haven’t always been drawn to the water and would typically choose to play land sports in the earlier years of my youth. At the age of 11 my parents put me in the Junior Guards program, where my love for the water began to blossom, leading to where I am today. The Junior Lifeguard Cadet Internship has given me much-needed insight into what being a lifeguard is all about, something I am very grateful for.
